Legislative Drafting Opportunity
About the RoleThis position offers a unique chance to contribute to a diverse portfolio of legislative work across a federal government agency. As a senior legislation lawyer, you will be responsible for drafting explanatory statements and memoranda, instructing the Office of Parliamentary Counsel on legislative matters, and reviewing secrecy provisions within legislation.
Key Responsibilities- Drafting high-quality legislative documents, including explanatory statements and memoranda.
- Providing expert guidance on legislative matters to the Office of Parliamentary Counsel.
- Contributing to a diverse range of legislative projects, ensuring timely delivery and exceptional quality.
- Reviewing and advising on secrecy provisions within legislation, maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A strong understanding of the legislative process, with experience in drafting and reviewing legislative documents.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable advice.
- Familiarity with privacy law and security clearance procedures.
