Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Paralegal to join our Criminal Law Practice in Canberra, ACT. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual who is passionate about social justice and cultural safety.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide administrative support to solicitors, assist with file management, drafting legal documents, data entry, and court-related tasks. They will also liaise with clients, families, legal professionals, and service providers to coordinate appointments and confirm court dates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide paralegal and administrative support to solicitors;
  • Assist with reception duties and secretarial tasks as needed;
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with policies and regulations;
  • Promote and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural practices.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A thorough understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories;
  • Strong commitment to social justice principles and culturally appropriate behaviours;
  • Proven administrative and computer skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency;
  • Excellent communication and phone manner skills;
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities;
  • Effective problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
