Job Title: Engineering Manager (Platform Engineering)

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Platform Engineering team. As a key people and technical leader, you will be responsible for guiding a team of engineers in pursuit of our mission, enabling development teams to rapidly build, deliver, and operate high-quality products through the provision of tooling, automation, and expertise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of engineers in the development and delivery of high-quality software solutions
  • Ensure the successful delivery of software projects while fostering a culture of accountability, technical, and operational excellence
  • Partner closely with Product Managers to set the direction for the team and drive delivery outcomes
  • Have a strong technical background and be able to roll up your sleeves on delivery tasks when required
  • Focus on people, technical, and delivery leadership, as well as the health and availability of production systems
  • Responsible for team health and the performance and growth of engineers within the team
  • Uplift capability through coaching, mentoring, and hiring to ensure the team is well-placed to tackle unique challenges
  • Foster collaboration and alignment within and across teams to achieve organisational objectives
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 1 year in a leadership or management role tackling people, operational excellence, and delivery challenges
  • Strong technical background with expertise in modern software development practices, tools, and technologies
  • Ideal experience with a variety of technology stacks and programming languages
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex software projects on time and within scope
  • Familiarity with cloud-native technologies and architectures (e.g., AWS, microservices) is a plus
  • Good understanding of database technologies
  • Experience working with various tools to design, orchestrate, test, build, release, and monitor work
  • Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
Ways of Working:
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and processes (e.g., Scrum, Kanban)
  • Experience with employing Extreme Programming (XP) practices such as TDD and pair programming
  • Knowledge of Dev Ops practices and tools
  • Prior involvement with production support/incident response beneficial
  • Knowledge of good Application Security practices
