Train Control Operations Leader

Key Responsibilities:

As a seasoned leader, you will champion a safety-first culture ensuring high standards in health, safety, and well-being across operations. You will lead and coach a high-performing team to achieve business objectives and foster positive work and customer relationships.

You will contribute to the development and implementation of train control strategies and change management initiatives. This includes effective labour resource management including workforce planning, succession planning, performance management, leave management as well as competency and capability development aligned to the overall business goals and train control strategy.

You will manage and mitigate impact of events through coordination of emergency response and recovery efforts. Additionally, you will analyse data, identify opportunities and establish plans for continuous improvement in safe working, business processes and systems/technology and collaborate to implement plans.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proven line leadership experience in logistics or heavy industrial organisations.
  • Safeworking Theory Qualification is highly regarded.
  • An understanding of both above and below rail control will be essential for success in this position.
  • A minimum of Certificate IV/Diploma in Frontline Management or equivalent is preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills, including team coaching, safety management, and change management are required.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing abilities are necessary.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and manage competing priorities is essential.
  • Experience in workforce development and succession planning is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of train control operations, planning, and safe working systems or ability to learn is required.
  • Resilient with the ability to analyse complex information and solve problems collaboratively.
