
Meaningful Community Engagement Opportunity

Red Cross Emergency Services volunteers support communities before, during and after emergencies. Volunteers require training to maintain skills so they can respond when needed.
This opportunity offers flexibility for volunteers to decide when and how much time they commit. It also provides the chance to develop skills in psychosocial support, training programs and community development services.
- Join a local team as part of a larger network of teams.
- Engage in preparedness, response and recovery activities.
- Upfront commitment to minimum training: 9 hours online learning and practical training in Psychological First Aid.
- Mandatory e-learning modules (x10) – duration approximately 9 hours.
- Basic computer literacy is essential.
- National Police Check required.
- State/Territory dependent: Working With Children Check or Working With Vulnerable People Check. Red Cross can assist with application.
As a volunteer you will have opportunities to engage in various roles including community events, meetings, admin support, training and facilitation.
Volunteers will work with all community members respectfully, sensitively and supportively.
Program detailsRed Cross supports communities at-risk of disaster or that have experienced an emergency.
We work in communities before an emergency assisting with individual and community preparedness, during an emergency providing support in welfare and relief centres and through our emergency phoneline, and after emergencies as communities move through the recovery process.
