About the Role

This dynamic position involves leading key initiatives to enhance information governance maturity within a federal agency.

  • Develop and deliver projects to strengthen information management practices and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance the Information Asset Register, providing stakeholders with accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Provide expert advice on records keeping best practices and assist in the development of policies and procedures.
  • Clarify roles and responsibilities for information governance across the organisation, ensuring clear lines of authority and accountability.
  • Review and update record security protocols, ensuring that sensitive information is protected from unauthorized access.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage sentencing and disposal of records in accordance with relevant legislation, such as the National Archives Act 1983.
  • Maintain system access controls and ensure compliance with reporting obligations, including data protection and privacy regulations.
  • Develop training and communication materials to build staff capability and promote a culture of information governance.
  • Draft briefs, procurement documents, and policies related to records and information management, working closely with stakeholders to ensure alignment with organisational objectives.
Skill Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience and/or qualifications in Information Management and records keeping, with a strong understanding of industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in TRIM/Content Manager, with the ability to utilise software effectively to manage and maintain information assets.
  • Strong communication skills—both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex information governance concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
