About the Role

International SOS is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Drug and Alcohol team in the Immigration Detention Facilities. As a key member of our team, you will provide clinical leadership and expertise in the assessment and management of patients with drug and alcohol use disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and ongoing improvement and review of triage and treatment planning for patients on opioid substitution treatment programs.
  • Offer advanced support and liaison at a local level on matters relating to drug and alcohol use disorders.
  • Facilitate and liaise with local and external stakeholders/service providers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Specialist assessment and management of withdrawal states, pharmacotherapies, intoxication, and overdose states.
  • Provide assistance to local and centralised leadership teams to ensure smooth operation of drug and alcohol-related care and services.
Requirements
  • Current AHPRA Registration as a Div. 1 Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum of 3 years recent clinical experience working with people with drug and alcohol use or concerns, in a drug and alcohol setting, including experience in opioid substitution treatment.
  • Advanced clinical assessment skills and management of alcohol and drug issues.
  • Good knowledge of harm minimisation principles.
  • Current BLS or First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain it).
