Job Opportunity

Seeking an experienced Database Administrator to manage, maintain and optimize IBM Informix database environments ensuring a secure, high-availability platform.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, upgrade and patch Informix database server software.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance (memory, CPU, I/O, storage).
  • Implement and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Troubleshoot database issues and provide root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Design and maintain database objects (tables, views, indexes, stored procedures).
  • Manage user access, roles and permissions to ensure data security.
  • Automate database maintenance tasks using shell scripts or other tools.
  • Support application development teams with schema design, tuning and query optimization.
  • Perform capacity planning and ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with IT standards, policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience as an Informix DBA in production environments.
  • Proficiency with Informix tools (dbaccess, onstat, oncheck, ontape, onbar).
  • Experience with Informix Dynamic Server (IDS), ideally version 12.x or above.
  • Strong UNIX/Linux skills, including shell scripting.
  • Knowledge of SQL tuning, indexing strategies and replication (HDR/ER).
  • Familiarity with Informix Storage Manager (ISM) and monitoring tools.
  • Australian Citizenship with Baseline security clearance.
