The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Field Maintenance Specialist to join our team in Rockhampton, working on a permanent full-time basis.

As a Field Maintenance Specialist, you will play a key role in the safe and timely delivery of field activities in relation to the operation, repair, and maintenance of the gas distribution network and underground gas pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the crew leader, work efficiently to repair gas leaks, including emergency repairs, and carry out construction and alteration of mains and services.
  • Safely use all types of manual and mechanically operated equipment associated with excavation work, such as excavators, shovels, and jackhammers, and compaction equipment.
  • Perform routine checks using all types of equipment associated with gas reticulation, including pipe and cable locators, and gas detection equipment.
  • Accurately locate both gas reticulation underground plant and other utilities using equipment provided.
  • Loading and unloading of quarry materials, including transportation to and from site.

About You

  • Must be prepared to work on a rotating standby roster offering 24-hour/day, 7-day/week support.
  • Prior experience or skills in gas distribution and/or field maintenance activities are desirable.
  • Previous experience in distribution networks is advantageous.
  • MR license and mobile plant experience, such as skid steer and excavator, are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated strong focus on safety.

Our Networks team manages and operates transmission pipelines and local distribution networks that deliver gas to around 1.4 million households and businesses across Australia.

This is an exciting time for the Networks team, with many new projects underway, including the 2032 Olympics. We have a strong culture of continuous improvement and working towards Net Zero with the introduction of renewable green gas into the Gas Networks.
