Job Title: Laboratory Manager

About the Role

This is a key leadership position in our team, responsible for the day-to-day operational support of research activities at our Centre. The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and managerial skills, with a strong scientific background and experience working in a multiuser facility.

The Lab Manager will oversee state-of-the-art equipment, ensuring its proper use, maintenance, calibration, and servicing to maximise lab output and data standards. They will also manage occupational health and safety, compliance, and control operational activities of the Centre.

The ideal candidate will work closely with research technicians and staff, integrating PhD students into lab activities to ensure safe and effective project conduct. Liaison with colleagues across the institution is also required.

We are seeking a detail-oriented professional with advanced project and team management skills, ideally with a strong scientific background. Your operations experience will ensure smooth laboratory functioning, promoting a safe, productive, and efficient working environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day operational support for research activities at the Centre.

Requirements

We seek a highly skilled and experienced individual with the following qualifications and skills:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency.
  • Advanced project and team management skills.
  • Substantial experience managing a team for successful delivery of operational objectives.
  • Substantial knowledge of health and safety responsibilities, compliance control measures, and commitment to attending relevant training.
  • Substantial experience in financial management, accurate record keeping, and working knowledge of data security practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget management and procurement.
  • Highly developed organisational, project management, and time management skills.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and networking and negotiation skills, including ability to consult and build rapport with people at all levels.
