Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Bushfire Management Specialist to join our team at Ku-ring-gai Council. As a key member of our environmental management team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing procedures to enhance bushfire risk management programs.

About the Role

This permanent full-time position (35 hours per week) offers a unique opportunity to work in one of New South Wales most attractive natural environments. You will be responsible for:

  • Contributing to the review and enhancement of the Bushfire Risk Management Plan;
  • Representing the Council on various committees and working groups;
  • Providing training on bushfire planning and management;
  • Preparing environmental impact assessments and burn plans;
  • Liaising with community stakeholders and regulatory bodies;
  • Participating in Bushfire Hazard Reduction activities.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • A Diploma in Environmental or Bushfire Management;
  • Certifications in Public Safety, burn plan development, and chainsaw operation;
  • Extensive experience in bushfire firefighting and hazard reduction burning;
  • Proficiency in GIS software, MS Office suite, and the NSW Rural Fire Service Guardian application;
  • A Current Class C Drivers licence.
