Job Opportunity

The role of First Nations Cross Platform Journalist involves producing high-quality news, interviews and feature stories across linear and digital platforms.

This includes planning, researching, writing, editing and producing original content that centres and elevates First Nations voices and perspectives.

A strong network within Indigenous communities and organisations across the country is essential for this position.

The journalist will also travel for breaking news coverage and significant events as required.

Main Responsibilities
  • Producing high-quality news, interviews and feature stories across linear and digital platforms.
  • Generating, developing and pitching ideas for original content that centres and elevates First Nations voices and perspectives.
  • Building and maintaining strong networks within Indigenous communities and organisations across the country.

Key qualifications for this position include:

  • Advanced communication skills and proven experience in journalism and/or media broadcasting.
  • A deep understanding of Indigenous Cultural Protocol and ability to communicate sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Understanding of or experience in camera, sound and editing systems.
