**Role Overview:**

We are seeking an exceptional clinician to lead the provision of high-quality psychiatric care to older adults. This role is a senior position within our multidisciplinary team and offers a unique opportunity for professional growth and development.

The Older People's Mental Health Service provides integrated clinical services to the elderly population, with a focus on inpatient, consultation-liaison, hospital outpatients, community clinics and outreach to older people at home and residential aged care facilities.

As a Staff Specialist or Visiting Medical Officer, you will provide psychiatric assessment and treatment to older adults in various settings, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert psychiatric care to older adults, including assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Lead and contribute to the development of innovative solutions to improve patient outcomes, promoting a culture of continuous quality improvement.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care, prioritizing patient-centered approaches and person-centered care.
  • Contribute to the education and training of junior medical officers and specialist trainees, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and professional development.

Requirements:

  • Possess specialist registration with AHPRA and a Medicare provider number.
  • Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Psychiatry of Old Age, including electroconvulsive therapy and other evidence-based treatments.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively as a leader and member of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills.
