Competition Lawyer Job Description

Our organization seeks a seasoned and skilled competition lawyer to assume a key role in our team.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading teams to identify and analyze relevant information, drawing evidence-based conclusions on competition issues. They will develop, implement, and review plans for the conduct of investigations and/or projects, identifying suitable resolutions for identified actions and providing recommendations to senior management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead teams to identify and analyze relevant information, drawing evidence-based conclusions on competition issues.
  • Develop, implement, and review plans for the conduct of investigations and/or projects.
  • Identify suitable resolutions for identified actions, changing market behaviors, activities, and issues, and provide recommendations to senior management.
  • Prepare for litigation in court, including drafting briefs for lawyers and counsel, and obtaining witness statements.
  • Assist with leading and guiding the professional development of junior team members and contributing to the leadership of the branch.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in economics, law, or similar fields.
  • A strong understanding of the competition provisions of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and other relevant legislation.
  • Experience leading and managing investigations into complex matters and/or competition law issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake objective, systematic analysis to draw accurate conclusions.
  • Strong written drafting skills and experience in ensuring high-quality documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
