The Senior Software Engineering Team Lead will play a pivotal role in defining team objectives, implementing best engineering practices, and aligning solutions with Chapter Area and Tribe Quarterly Business Review (QBR) strategic objectives.

This key position involves developing strategies to attract and retain top talent, improving the engineering vision for internal customers, and ensuring the delivery of solutions that adhere to established principles and practices.

Key responsibilities include coordinating recruitment, performance assessments, people allocation, and team growth through learning and development opportunities.

As a bridge between engineers, customers, and stakeholders, you'll drive strategic solutions that optimize systems, improve operations, and contribute to growth.

Your day-to-day will involve guiding chapter members' growth across tribes through mentorship, technical leadership, and career development.

You'll uphold and contribute to engineering standards and practices while ensuring compliance with company and regulatory guidelines.

Maintaining domain knowledge and technical capability is crucial to ensure business continuity and provide solutions across multiple squads.

Staying informed about infrastructure, architecture, and codebase is essential.

Engaging in technical discussions and getting hands-on experience to stay up to date is necessary.

Conducting regular 1:1s and overseeing the completion of performance reviews, offering clear feedback and opportunities for professional development is also part of your role.

Building positive relationships with tribes, squads, and stakeholders requires critical thinking and empathy to achieve well-engineered outcomes.

Collaborating with tribes and leadership to define QBR strategies, track OKRs, and align sourcing strategies with organizational goals is another important aspect.

Leading hiring, recruitment, and performance reviews, encouraging engagement, passion, and knowledge-sharing within the chapter is a critical responsibility.

Promoting innovation, creativity, and a diverse, inclusive environment aligned with Optus' values, driving continuous improvement and excellence is essential.

We offer a competitive salary of $AUD 170,000 - $200,000 per annum, plus benefits including 3 days in the office, 2 days remote, inclusive paid parental leave, access to an extensive online and facilitator-led learning catalogue, and more.
