Senior Security Capability Leader

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of a Senior Security Capability Leader.

The successful applicant will manage a team to build and deliver a comprehensive security capability program to support the needs of Australian Parliament House.

This program will include all aspects of recruitment, training, and onboarding of security personnel, as well as ensuring that a fit-for-purpose ongoing compliance, accreditation, and development strategy is formulated and delivered across the Branch.

The position holder will be required to demonstrate sound judgement and the ability to establish and enhance stakeholder relationships to deliver innovative initiatives.

Cultivating a highly professionalised customer-focused security culture is key to this role.

The Senior Security Capability Leader will also be required to work across teams to support and facilitate other aspects of the Security Operations Support Section and the Security Operations Branch.

A Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance is required for the successful applicant.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing teams responsible for the development and delivery of operational training specifically for Security Operations at Australian Parliament House.

They will also be responsible for forecasting and planning for future capability and training needs, balancing resource allocation between future requirements and maintenance of existing capability.

Additionally, they will oversee the development, procurement, and delivery of training programs in line with identified capability and workforce development requirements.

They will collaborate with internal DPS stakeholders and external stakeholders like the Australian Federal Police (AFP) to identify and develop joint training solutions to meet the current and future requirements of APH.

The employee will also be required to manage the Parliamentary Security Service workforce delivery cycle including workforce analysis and planning, targeted advertising, recruitment activities, initial qualification training, onboarding, and all associated administrative processes.

The role requires a high degree of professionalism, customer focus, and collaboration to deliver innovative initiatives and cultivate a highly professionalised customer-focused security culture.

  • Manage teams responsible for the development and delivery of operational training specifically for Security Operations at Australian Parliament House.
  • Forecast and plan for future capability and training needs, balancing resource allocation between future requirements and maintenance of existing capability.
  • Oversight of the development, procurement, and delivery of training programs in line with identified capability and workforce development requirements.

The employee will be able to provide professional advice and services to all Senators and Members without favour or prejudice.
