Community Mental Health Clinician Job Description

The Community Mental Health Clinician plays a pivotal role in delivering recovery-focused clinical services to individuals with mental illnesses or distress issues.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the clinician provides assessment, care coordination, intervention, liaison, and review services to support consumers' mental health rehabilitation and recovery.

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and implement evidence-based interventions for individuals experiencing mental illness.
  • Collaborate with consumers, families, carers, and other stakeholders to develop effective care plans that address their unique needs and circumstances.
  • Deliver high-quality, person-centered care that promotes mental health rehabilitation and recovery through a range of strategies and interventions.
  • Engage with consumers, families, carers, and other stakeholders to promote mental health awareness and education.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care and support to consumers.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualifications and current registration with the relevant health practitioners regulation agency as a Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Psychologist.
  • Tertiary qualifications for Social Worker, Counsellor, or Welfare Officer with eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the NSW Mental Health Act (2007).
  • Understanding of the concept and principles of mental health rehabilitation and recovery.
  • High level communication skills to engage and collaborate with consumers, families, and carers, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy and ability to use software applications relevant to the role.
