Women's Safety Project Officer

The Women's Safety and Gender Equity Project Officer plays a pivotal role in driving holistic approaches to gender justice for migrant and refugee women, utilizing an intersectional lens. This involves taking insights from DFSV casework and practice at SSI into an advocacy environment, advocating for migrants and refugees, especially new arrivals, and their needs to be seen and considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Driving outcomes under the Women and Girls Strategy across the organization
  • Organizing and supporting key events throughout the year, such as International Women's Day and 16 Days of Activism
  • Participating in the broader activities of the organization and division the role sits within

Essential Criteria:

- Relevant tertiary degree qualification

- Proven research skills, including consulting communities and peers

- Highly developed interpersonal skills

- Experience developing community & stakeholder plans and delivering engagement strategies

Desirable:

- Proven experience of advocacy with a focus on systemic change, preferably within the multicultural sector and communities
