The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) is seeking a Senior Privacy Analyst to join its Enterprise Security team within the Technology and Data Division.

The successful candidate will support APRA's Privacy function, delivering initiatives set out in the privacy management plan. This includes development, implementation, and maintenance of privacy policies and procedures, monitoring privacy compliance, advice, assessments, and incident response.

The role coordinates a range of functions to help APRA comply with the Privacy Act 1988, the Privacy (Australian Government Agencies – Governance) APP Code 2017, and the Australian Privacy Principles.

  1. Define, prioritize, and monitor the delivery of privacy deliverables set out under the privacy management plan.
  2. Identify privacy issues across the organization and act as a point of contact for privacy enquiries.
  3. Ensure all privacy documentation is developed and maintained.
  4. Build a 'privacy by design' culture to help projects and systems build in personal information protection.
  5. Promote privacy awareness across APRA, ensuring staff understand their rights and responsibilities in relation to personal information.
  6. Provide privacy advice on the development of new initiatives that have a potential privacy impact, the general application of privacy law to APRA's activities, and what safeguards to apply to mitigate any risks to the privacy of individuals.
  7. Liaise with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
  8. Coordinate the handling of internal and external privacy enquiries, privacy complaints, and requests for access to, and correction of personal information.
  9. Maintain APRA's inventory of personal information.
  10. Assist with the preparation of Privacy Impact Assessments.
  11. Measure and document APRA's performance against the privacy management plan.
  12. Deliver privacy training to staff.

  1. Knowledge and understanding of the APRA mission, objectives, functions, processes, and systems.
  2. Demonstrated experience working in Privacy and compliance with experience working alongside Security personnel.
  3. The ability to influence, negotiate, and assist business stakeholders in the resolution of privacy matters and in situations where there are competing views and interests on priorities.
  4. Knowledge and understanding of privacy issues within the broader business context.
  5. Specific knowledge of the Privacy Act 1988, the Privacy (Australian Government Agencies – Governance) APP Code 2017, and the Australian Privacy Principles.
  6. An understanding of security risks, preventative controls, and security processes.
  7. Experience in building and maintaining strong business relationships.
  8. Experienced in the negotiation and management of outsourced service contracts.
  9. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  10. Awareness of technology trends.
  11. Excellent presentation skills.
