29Metals Limited is an ASX-listed mining company focused on producing copper, along with other base and precious metals critical to the global energy transition.
We operate two long-life assets: Golden Grove in Western Australia and Capricorn Copper in Queensland. Our exploration interests also include a strategic tenement package and exploration project in Redhill, Chile.
Golden Grove is a high-grade underground mining operation producing copper, zinc, and precious metals, with a life expectancy of over 10 years and significant mine-life extension potential at existing orebodies and highly prospective near-mine growth opportunities.
Job DescriptionThe Senior Exploration Geologist will play a crucial role in rebuilding our Exploration team from the ground up at Golden Grove.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior geologist to drive the continued exploration and management of leases, ensuring work activities are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
- Lead and mentor the Exploration team, fostering a collaborative, high-standard work environment.
- Generate and update 3D geological models to identify and prioritise prospective drilling targets.
- Plan, design, and manage underground delineation, extensional, and near-mine drilling programmes.
- Supervise all surface-based drilling activities, conduct drill core logging, and perform sample analysis.
- Manage project budgets, analyse cost performance, and report results to ensure financial accountability.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Exploration team to enhance operational efficiency and data integrity.
- A strong background in exploration geology, including previous supervisory and team management experience.
- Tertiary qualification in geology or a related discipline, as well as relevant professional industry membership.
- Expertise in near-mine / brownfields exploration.
- Well-versed in planning, implementing, and supervising drilling programs, including deep directional drilling (wedging, navi cuts etc.).
- Experience in using mining software, such as Micromine, Leapfrog, MapInfo, Vulcan, or Geobank.
- Current C Class Driver's Licence (manual).
Candidates should have excellent leadership skills, strong technical knowledge, and experience working in a similar role.
The ideal candidate will be able to motivate and inspire the team, make informed decisions, and provide expert guidance.
