About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned AML/CTF Manager to join our Legal & Risk Division in Melbourne. This is a key position that will play a pivotal role in driving our compliance program forward.

  1. Develop and implement robust AML/CTF processes in line with firm policies and procedures.
  2. Support the maintenance of our enterprise-wide AML/CTF compliance program, including system design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement.
  3. Liaise with teams to ensure seamless execution of new business intake and conflicts processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform initial and ongoing Client Due Diligence (CDD) and enhanced due diligence for high-risk clients, including risk assessments.
  • Review source of funds and beneficial ownership structures.
  • Respond to escalations and support teams with complex CDD scenarios.
  • Make timely decisions regarding Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs) and AUSTRAC submissions within legislative timeframes.
  • Maintain accurate records of client verification documents and internal registers of reported matters.
  • Support resolution of standard conflict of interest queries.
  • Provide internal support for onboarding and CDD processes.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of AML/CTF legislation, particularly the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Australia).
  • Excellent analytical, investigative, and decision-making skills using risk-based reasoning.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and related security controls.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with colleagues and internal teams.
  • Capacity to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
