Senior Mental Health Clinician Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Mental Health Clinician to join our team at the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS). As a key member of our Far North Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality mental health services to rural and remote communities in Far North Queensland.

About the Role

This is a casual position based in Cairns, with regular travel to remote communities across the region. As a Senior Mental Health Clinician, you will be responsible for providing evidence-based clinical interventions, conducting complex holistic clinical assessments, and delivering ongoing psychological therapies and counselling to individuals and communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver and develop culturally appropriate holistic services in remote communities
  • Provide a range of evidence-based clinical interventions, including psychological therapies and counselling
  • Conduct complex holistic clinical assessments and develop treatment plans
  • Collaborate with other service providers to support inter-agency networks
  • Conduct case reviews and provide ongoing support to clients
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

Registration with AHPRA or membership of the AASWFormal qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Mental Health NursingExtensive post-graduate experience in a relevant clinical fieldDemonstrated experience in providing brief interventions and therapeutic counselling to clients of all agesDemonstrated experience and respectful understanding of cultural diversity, including traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander views of health and wellnessWhat We Offer
