About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Backup Data Protection Specialist to join our team. The successful applicant will have 5+ years of experience with Simpana and/or CommVault in large-scale deployments in complex multi-domain environments.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for administering backup systems, tuning system performance, installing site-wide software, and supporting storage hardware and software. They will work in a fast-paced environment, performing various functions such as reviewing Storage & Data Protection designs, implementing and testing Commvault upgrades, designing, implementing, and administering data migration activities, and configuring Storage Units.

The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple concurrent activities and provide excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will also have experience setting up CommVault in Linux/Unix environments and performing backup, recovery, troubleshooting, proactive maintenance, and optimizing performance of CommVault.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing Storage & Data Protection designs and making recommendations for upgrades, designs, and implementations;
  • Implementing and testing Commvault upgrades;
  • Designing, implementing, and administering data migration activities;
  • Configuring Storage Units, Volume Pools, Disk Staging, and storage life cycle policies;
  • Creating Policies and Schedules, Monitoring backup/restoring jobs, and Experience troubleshooting CommVault problems;
  • Maintaining data protection design and implementation documentation;
  • Providing input into policies, procedures, and SOPs relating to maintenance and management of the operational backup infrastructure and solution;
  • Implementing organisational objectives for backup and restore improvement and compliance with industry standards;
  • Providing solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity;
  • Obtaining and analysing relevant subject matter documentation;
  • Contributing to IT Support process and policy development;
  • Ensuring adherence to processes, procedures, and security requirements.

Requirements:

  • Relevant certifications or Professional membership relating to CommVault Data protection software;
  • 5+ years experience with Simpana and/or CommVault in large scale deployment in complex multi-domain environments;
  • Experience in setting up CommVault in Linux/Unix environments;
  • Experience in performing backup, recovery, troubleshooting, proactive maintenance, and optimizing performance of CommVault;
  • Substantial professional experience working in a role within an engineering or project environment (preferably in a similar industry).
