Macquarie University's Australian Astronomical Optics Director Opportunity

The Faculty of Science and Engineering at Macquarie University is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Director, Australian Astronomical Optics. This unique leadership role offers an opportunity to lead a team of experts in astronomical instrumentation engineering.

About the Role

This 5-year fixed term appointment with underlying continuing status provides an exciting chance to take on a key leadership position within the Faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team that develops innovative technology for use in astronomical instruments, software and data systems for processing, storage, and access of data, and using these instruments and systems for scientific research.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a proven track record of academic leadership in your discipline and be known as an eminent authority in your field. You will have demonstrated the ability to lead and uplift large technical teams, develop trust, build commitment, model core University values, and foster an environment of innovation and excellence.

Requirements
  • A PhD in a relevant field such as astronomy, physics, or engineering
  • Proven experience in leadership and management
  • Demonstrated expertise in astronomical instrumentation engineering and/or software development
What We Offer

As a member of our team, you can expect a competitive salary package including a base salary of $$160,000 - $200,000 per annum, depending on experience.
