Job Title: Workshop Leading Hand

This is a critical leadership role within our operations, requiring a skilled and experienced professional to oversee daily workshop activities.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and driven individual to lead our fleet maintenance workshop. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily operations, providing guidance and support to team members, and ensuring high-quality work is delivered in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Lead daily toolbox meetings to discuss key objectives, tasks, and deadlines.
  • Assign routine and corrective maintenance tasks according to service schedules and operational demands.
  • Oversee and support fleet mechanics to ensure timely completion of tasks and high-quality work.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks and review maintenance work orders at task completion.
  • Review and approve driver-reported faults, coordinating timely repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed and continually review workshop practices to identify hazards and implement controls.
  • Supervise employee behavior and conduct, maintaining a respectful and supportive work environment.
  • Collaborate with the site supervisor to effectively manage resources and optimize productivity.
Key Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Australian-recognized heavy vehicle trade qualification.
  • Proven mechanical knowledge with experience on Volvo, Isuzu, and Iveco drivetrains.
  • An HR license.
  • Prior waste industry experience and familiarity with S/Pak, Bucher, and West-Trans bodies is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A positive, can-do attitude focused on employee engagement and teamwork.
