Cardiac Interventionalist Technologist

The Cardiac Cath Lab Intervential Radiology Technologist performs complex medical procedures in the Cardiac Cath Lab. These procedures involve advanced diagnostic and interventional cardiac operations, as well as peripheral vascular interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of patients and equipment for cardiac lab procedures by preparing entry sites, draping patients, arranging sterilized instruments and catheters, calibrating and setting up pressure transducers and tubing.
  • Ensuring all x-ray images are of high quality and maintaining x-ray related equipment for procedures.
  • Scrubs during procedure, assisting physician in maneuvering catheters.
  • Monitoring and recording hemodynamic, electrical, and angiographic data by operating hemodynamic and electrical amplifiers and digital and line fluoroscopic equipment.
  • Participation in life-saving measures such as defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Assisting in transporting patients to nursing units.
  • Preparing Cardiac Lab procedure rooms by ensuring adequate stock is available.

Requirements:

  • Education: Associate degree in Radiology or completion of certification program in Radiography.
  • License: Required: Current ARRT (R) and current license as a Radiologic Technologist by the State of Indiana.
