HumeLink West Project Overview

This project involves the delivery of a new 500kV double circuit transmission line spanning approximately 140km from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, biodiversity management requirements, and sustainable land use practices during the planning, construction, and operation phases of the project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the planning, construction, and operation phase of the project by ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, biodiversity management requirements, and sustainable land use practices.
  • Carry out field surveys to identify and map threatened species, ecological communities, and critical habitats.
  • Liaise with State Forestry authorities, local councils, traditional owner groups, and environmental regulators to coordinate access and approvals in forested areas.
About You
  • Tertiary qualifications in Ecology, Environmental Science, Botany, Zoology, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' relevant work experience.
  • Certification/accreditation as a BAM (Biodiversity Assessment Method) assessor.
  • Hold a Scientific Licence under Part 2 of the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 (including Animal Ethics Approval).
  • Proficiency in ecological fieldwork, biodiversity assessments, and GIS mapping tools.
  • Knowledge of NSW environmental legislation and biodiversity offsetting frameworks.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, particularly in multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Current driver's licence and ability to travel to remote sites.
