Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Print Technician to join our production team.

About the Role

In this position, you will be responsible for operating high-speed printing presses to produce daily and weekly newspapers at a professional standard.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Operating Modern Printing Presses: Set up and run web offset presses for newspaper printing.
  • Maintaining Print Quality: Monitor press performance and quality throughout each run, making real-time adjustments as needed.
  • Troubleshooting Technical Issues: Identify and resolve technical problems to avoid downtime.
  • Mechanical Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and assist with mechanical repairs when required.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with editorial, prepress, and finishing teams to meet daily deadlines and ensure smooth production.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Prior Experience: Previous experience in print production or operating commercial printing equipment is preferred.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: A strong understanding of mechanical systems and ability to work with large machinery.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and a good eye for print quality.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work on your feet for extended periods.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work night shifts, weekends, or holiday schedules as required.
  • Reliability: Strong sense of ownership over your work and ability to meet deadlines.
Bonus Skills
  • Newspaper-Specific Equipment: Experience with newspaper-specific press equipment would be an asset.
  • Prepress and Finishing Knowledge: Familiarity with prepress and finishing processes could enhance your skills.
