About the Role

Chubb Insurance Australia Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Casualty Underwriter to join our team in Western Australia. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for underwriting new and renewal Casualty accounts in accordance with Chubb guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite new and renewal Casualty accounts in accordance with Chubb guidelines
  • Develop business relationships with an assigned panel of Independent and Global brokers
  • Identify, analyse and develop sources of desirable new business opportunities
  • Prepare, deliver and negotiate quotations
  • Collaborate with other Product lines including whole of account underwriting and broker meetings
  • Build and maintain long term relationships with key producers and Insureds
  • Present to prospective producers and initiate new producer appointments
Requirements
  • 5 years' experience in a Casualty or Package Underwriting and Development role with an insurance company
  • Strong broker relationships across Independent and Global broking houses
  • Develop creative solutions to unique underwriting situations
  • Understand advanced pricing techniques, including claims rating, payback pricing and deductible structures
  • Understand account servicing costs and be familiar with developing marketing plans and handling complex accounts
  • Understand the underwriting appetites of other departments and how those relate to interdepartmental accounts
  • Make recommendations for tailoring coverage and manuscripting policies
  • Familiar with the products and services of key competitors
  • Excellent collaboration, communication and negotiation skills, both internally and externally
  • Ability to effectively train entry level underwriters and orient new experienced hires
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft systems, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
