The role of a Senior Estimator is crucial in ensuring cost transparency and driving value for money across the project lifecycle.
- Lead first-principles reviews of contractor cost estimates to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Validate estimating methodology, risk management, and schedule against client requirements to deliver high-quality results.
- Negotiate cost adjustments and provide recommendations for contractor awards based on thorough analysis and technical expertise.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, client stakeholders, and delivery partners to confirm value assurance outcomes and ensure seamless project progression.
- Manage workloads efficiently and effectively, ensuring timely submission and approval of estimates from inception to completion.
- Develop cost estimates across various AACEI classifications (Class 5 to Class 2) using both first-principles pricing and benchmarking techniques.
- Interpret specifications and standards to assess cost implications and identify potential risks or opportunities.
- Prepare and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations as required, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Deliver high-quality tender handovers, including development of Basis of Estimates documentation that meets client requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating practices and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Significant experience as an Estimator in infrastructure or construction, with a clear passion for the discipline and a commitment to ongoing learning and development.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and cost drivers, with the ability to apply this knowledge in practical scenarios.
- Proficiency with estimating software (particularly Expert Estimation) and associated tools, with the ability to adapt quickly to new systems and technologies.
- Analytical mindset and strong attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify patterns or trends.
- Effective communicator and collaborator, able to work confidently with both technical and commercial teams to achieve shared goals.
- Skilled at managing multiple estimates and deadlines in a structured and efficient manner, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing demands.
- Familiarity with risk management and value-for-money principles in capital project delivery, with the ability to apply this knowledge in real-world scenarios.
- Comfortable negotiating and presenting to internal and external stakeholders, with the ability to articulate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
- Must currently reside in Australia and hold Australian Permanent Residency or Citizenship.
- Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance is advantageous.
