About the Opportunity

James Cook University is seeking a visionary leader to head our nursing and midwifery programs.

You will:

  • Provide strategic leadership for nursing and midwifery programs.
  • Drive innovation in curriculum design, teaching, and research.
  • Mentor and support academic staff and students.
  • Build strong partnerships with healthcare providers, industry, and community organisations.
  • Champion outcomes that improve healthcare in regional, rural, and remote communities.

For the first three years, you will also serve as Academic Group Head – Nursing and Midwifery, focusing on developing future academic leaders and strengthening industry engagement and research impact.

Requirements

We are looking for a passionate clinician and academic leader with:

  • A postgraduate qualification and current registration as a Nurse (Division 1) and/or Midwife with AHPRA.
  • Proven academic leadership in teaching, research, and service.
  • A commitment to excellence in nursing and midwifery education.
  • A collaborative mindset and a drive to mentor others and foster innovation.
  • A desire to make a meaningful difference through education and research.
