Design Coordinator Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Design Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our design department, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and delivering high-quality design services for our projects.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing design standards, overseeing design development, and ensuring compliance with our engineering management plan.

You will work closely with our engineering manager to prioritize and allocate design tasks, develop and enforce design standards and procedures, and establish and manage the design review and management system.

In addition, you will create detailed designs for tender, construction, and fabrication purposes, develop and update 3D models, and ensure all design work is completed to our required standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Safety Leadership: Maintain a safe working environment in compliance with our policies, including participating in regular audits.
  2. Design Coordination:
    1. Develop and enforce design standards and procedures.
    2. Establish and manage the design review and management system, including revision control and storage.
    3. Oversee the development and integration of 3D models from OEMs and internal teams.
    4. Prioritize and allocate design tasks in collaboration with the Engineering Manager.
  3. Design Execution:
    1. Create detailed designs for tender, construction, and fabrication purposes.
    2. Develop and update 3D models.
    3. Ensure all design is completed to required standards.
  4. Project Delivery:
    1. Ensure tasks are completed on time and within scope.
    2. Actively manage risks and contribute to achieving a zero-harm project outcome.
About YouQualifications and Experience:
  1. A minimum of 10 years of design experience, including multi-disciplined capital projects in heavy industry.
  2. Demonstrated commitment to safety, health, and environmental standards.
Skills and Knowledge:
  1. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor 3D software, and MS Office Suite (particularly Excel and Project).
  2. Strong understanding of engineering, construction, and commissioning processes.
  3. Ability to manage risks and prioritize tasks effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  4. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  5. Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
Preferred Attributes:
  1. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  2. Time management abilities to handle competing demands.
  3. Proven experience in coordinating internal and external design resources.
