Learning and Development Opportunities

We are seeking a Learning Advisor to join our Capability and Workforce Planning team. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality learning and development projects within the department, including practical implementation of and reporting on Learning & Development initiatives.

The team is responsible for strategically defining capability and performance frameworks, developing and maintaining related policies, providing corporate learning and development services, measuring capability across the organisation, and determining existing or new learning programs to address identified gaps.

Key requirements include:

  • leading, mentoring and developing others to build an effective, positive, and collaborative team;
  • effective problem-solving and critical thinking skills to exercise sound judgment in consideration of immediate and long-term issues;
  • analytical skills in gathering and investigating information at the broader departmental level to identify critical gaps and potential solutions;
  • responding positively and flexibly to change and uncertainty, demonstrating an openness to new information and viewpoints;
  • developing written and oral communication skills, providing information in a clear, concise, and articulate manner;
  • building and nurturing relationships based on trust and credibility with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities include:

  • developing digital learning products and project managing the end-to-end process of the development within timeframes;
  • creating complex course frameworks that support blended learning solutions comprising digital learning, face-to-face learning, assessments, and evaluations;
  • managing the implementation of learning programs, including developing plans and artefacts for communications, learning, and evaluations;
  • liaising with training service providers from procurement through to delivery to ensure training offerings align with the needs of the department;
  • providing guidance and advice in the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of learning and development initiatives, including building e-learning, face-to-face, and digital learning capability in the department;
  • assisting with operational and procedural evaluations and assessment and policy reviews;
  • contributing to the development of innovative L&D strategies and projects;
  • staying up to date with APS-wide strategies and best practices in L&D to ensure the department consistently meets service-wide expectations.
