About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our team at Hydro Tasmania, specializing in Transmission Line Design. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing transmission line structures that meet the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop transmission line structures, including lattice towers, poles, and gantries, using computer-aided design (CAD) software and industry-standard design packages.
  • Develop conductor loads and attachment point loads for transmission and substation structures, applying limit state design methods.
  • Analyze lattice tower, pole, and gantry structures to ensure they meet design specifications and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement design solutions that meet project requirements and client needs.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments, standards, and best practices, and apply this knowledge to improve design processes and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, with a strong background in structural design and analysis.
  • At least 10 years of experience in structural design, with a focus on transmission line and substation design.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Standards AS/NZS 7000, AS 4100, AS 3600, AS 3995, and AS 1170.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and industry-standard design packages, such as PLS Tower and PLS Pole.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
