About the Role

Our organisation is seeking a skilled GIS Data Analyst to join its team in Wollongong. The successful candidate will work with critical bathymetric data that shapes Australia's Electronic Navigational Charts and Defence capabilities.

This position offers the opportunity to be part of a team that directly supports a Defence client, backed by an experienced Canberra-based team including former military officers and current Reservists who are committed to professional growth and development.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in GIS, with a maritime geospatial background and strong experience in spatial ETL functions and data integration.

They will also have knowledge of geospatial data best practices, experience building spatial data models for analysis and visualisation, and statistical analysis capabilities including geo-statistical methods.

  • Key responsibilities:
  • Execute ETL processes to consolidate bathymetric data holdings
  • Review and ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across sources
  • Edit point clouds and gridded data to maintain quality standards
  • Apply standardised attribution and metadata to datasets
  • Technical Analysis:
  • Perform horizontal and vertical datum transformations
  • Georeference scanned manuscript datasets for quality control
  • Generate gridded outputs following established guidelines
  • Conduct geospatial analysis to identify data collection opportunities
  • Develop and apply new analytic methodologies for user requirements
  • Create data models optimised for visualisation and analysis
  • Document procedures and communicate results to diverse stakeholders
