Salary and BenefitsWe offer a highly competitive remuneration package, including a salary of approximately AU$85,000 per annum for this internship role. In addition, you'll also receive training, mentorship, personal development opportunities, gym membership, weekly chair massages, daily breakfast, lunch and an in-house barista, regular social events, accommodation for the entirety of the internship, and flights where necessary.
Job DescriptionAs our Software Developer Intern, you will take ownership of critical projects right from the start. Whether it's developing ultra-low latency exchange protocol encoders and decoders, or fine-tuning our automated trading strategies and pricing models, your goal is to find the simplest and cleanest solution to the problem at hand.
You'll experience the excitement of a fast-paced development cycle – owning a tight feedback loop, testing and shipping your code to production. You could be working on a change to a trading system in the morning and see it running live in the afternoon. Our collaborative culture means you'll work closely with traders and other developers to identify and solve problems that make a tangible impact on the business.
By the end of the internship, you'll have learnt the ins-and-outs of our trading systems and the engineering concepts that make them successful. This includes receiving guidance from our dedicated Head of IT Education, who will work with you on your development, including workshops on various tech-based topics, soft skills support, a dedicated mentor, and trader training to get you up to speed on our business.
Required Skills and QualificationsTo succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A strong passion for software development and problem-solving
- A degree in Computer Science, Software/Electrical/Mechatronic Engineering, or similarly technical field
- An Australian or New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, or full working rights in Australia
You're a driven individual with a range of out-of-classroom projects or extra-curricular activities that demonstrate your passion for technology, particularly software development. You're curious to learn, comfortable discussing/exploring complex technical ideas, and excited to work alongside the best developers and traders in the industry, with the humility to continually upskill and improve yourself.
