Therapy Assistant Role

As a therapy assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the occupational therapist in delivering therapy to children with developmental delays. Your role will involve helping children achieve development milestones such as fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, educating and involving parents, carers and others to facilitate development and learning, and supporting positive behaviours across environments using constructive strategies.

What You Will Do
  • Support occupational therapists in clinics, clients' homes and schools, and via telehealth
  • Assist in the delivery of therapy sessions, including setting up equipment and materials
  • Help children with daily living tasks, such as bathing, dressing, brushing teeth, feeding
  • Monitor children's progress and report any concerns to the occupational therapist
Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic first aid and CPR certification
  • NDIS Workers Screening Clearance
  • Valid Working with Children Check
  • Eligibility for AHPRA registration upon graduating
