Position Overview
The Senior Claims Consultant plays a crucial role in the proactive oversight of a portfolio comprising intricate life insurance claims, adhering to TAL's claims philosophy, established procedures, policy stipulations, and the Life Insurance Code of Practice, along with relevant legislative and regulatory mandates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the team by offering guidance on the claims management process, procedures, and contract stipulations, while exemplifying effective case management.
- Oversee a portfolio of complex life insurance claims with a proactive and cost-efficient approach.
- Ensure precise claim evaluations in accordance with policy terms and conditions.
- Collect and analyze pertinent information to devise an appropriate claims strategy.
- Effectively determine rightful benefit entitlements, ensuring timely payment of legitimate claims.
- Collaborate with Technical Specialists, Recovery & Support Specialists, Health Services, and other stakeholders.
- Provide mentorship to the team, guiding them through the claims management process and best practices.
- Assist the Team Manager in developing the skills of less experienced Claims Consultants as needed.
Accountability is paramount in this role. You are expected to persistently seek optimal outcomes for customers and partners, valuing teamwork in problem-solving.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a similar capacity, particularly in life, lump sum, trauma, and income protection claims assessment within the Financial Services/Insurance sector.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in a related discipline (preferred).
- Ability to establish rapport and demonstrate empathy with clients during challenging circumstances.
- A background in medical, vocational, or rehabilitation fields (preferred).
