Senior Lighting Operations Manager

About the Role:
  • We are seeking an experienced Senior Lighting Operations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our technical department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of all lighting systems.
Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Under the guidance of our Head of Lighting, work closely with creative teams and other technical departments to deliver high-quality lighting designs.
  • Design and implement electrical effects and practicals to enhance the overall production.
  • Program and operate ETC consoles to ensure seamless show execution.
  • Manage shows, participate in get ins, fit ups, and get outs, ensuring timely completion and exceptional quality.
  • Maintain a safe working environment during rehearsals, fit ups, and performances by identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
  • Attend meetings, technical rehearsals, and dress rehearsals as necessary to stay informed and provide input.
  • Perform regular maintenance on all electrical equipment, including annual PAT testing to ensure compliance with HSE standards.
  • Assist with the installation and replacement of electrical equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve working practices, enhancing the overall experience for creative teams, visiting companies, and artists.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to foster a positive, inclusive work environment that encourages growth and innovation.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in lighting operations for live theatre productions.
  • A strong passion for theatre and commitment to delivering exceptional results.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across departments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and adherence to health and safety legislation, including LOLER, PUWER, and Working at Height regulations.
  • Experience with temporary power systems, distro, and dimming installations.
  • Familiarity with lighting network setup and troubleshooting, MIDI, and OSC show control systems.
  • Practical experience with LED lighting and control systems, with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability.
  • Ability to work confidently at height, with attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with experience leading small teams and prioritizing tasks under pressure.
