Lander & Rogers, a leading independent law firm, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Associate to join our Insurance Law and Litigation team. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert legal advice to insurance and government clients on complex casualty and liability matters.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity to join a renowned practice with a strong focus on insurance law and litigation. You will work closely with our Partners to provide high-quality legal advice, manage complex cases, and develop your skills as a senior associate.

Responsibilities

  • Liaising with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored advice
  • Reviewing medical and expert material to inform your advice
  • Liaising with witnesses and preparing statements to support your clients' cases
  • Researching and providing legal analysis to identify potential issues and opportunities
  • Preparing and reviewing discovered documents and evidence to support your clients' claims
  • Drafting court documents, settlement deeds, and Medical Panel referrals to advance your clients' interests
  • Engaging and liaising with independent experts, counsel, opposing lawyers, and mediators to resolve disputes
  • Preparing advice on liability, prospects, quantum, reserves, and strategy to inform your clients' decision-making
  • Appearing at court, conferences, and mediations to advocate for your clients' interests
  • Preparing briefs and instructing counsel during court hearings, mediations, and conferences
  • Working in partnership with senior practitioners and other team members to deliver exceptional client service
  • Delegating work and providing instructions to lawyers, paralegals, and administrative support to ensure seamless case management
  • Mentoring and coaching lawyers to assist with their development and growth
  • Assisting graduates and seasonal clerks throughout their rotations to provide guidance and support
  • Retaining and building business to drive growth and revenue for the firm

About You

  • You will have strong litigation experience, preferably in personal injury insurance
  • You will hold a current practising certificate for NSW
  • You will have 5 years' plus PAE
  • You will have training and experience gained in a mid or top-tier law firm
  • You will be self-driven, have excellent verbal and written communication, and time management skills
  • You will be able to manage competing priorities effectively
  • You will demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships, particularly the ability to earn the confidence and trust of key stakeholders
  • You will pride yourself on being a team player who is professional, client-focused, and supportive of your colleagues
  • You will underpin your drive for excellence with a desire to achieve quality outcomes in commercial litigation claims
