About the Role

The Australian Government Department of Defence is seeking a highly skilled and experienced finance professional to join our team as an APS 6 Finance Advisor.

This role involves providing strategic financial advice to key clients, identifying financial risks and opportunities, understanding cost drivers and their impacts on capability, and forecasting end-of-financial-year achievements.

Some of the key duties of this role include:

  • Utilising business knowledge and financial skills to provide expert advice on Defence and government financial matters.
  • Building and sustaining effective working relationships with key clients across the Fleet and Maritime domain.
  • Coordinating financial governance requirements and promoting compliance with financial management frameworks.
  • Contributing to budget preparations, evaluating financial performance, and general financial management across various budgets and capabilities.
  • Identifying financial issues and applying financial management knowledge to deliver objective and systematic analysis and conclusions.

About Our Team

Our embedded teams provide finance support to the Navy Head Quarter and partnered Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group. We are part of the recent Defence Strategic Review (DSR) and the 2024 National Defence Strategy (NDS), which sets out a blueprint to deliver a transformation of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to an integrated, focused force capable of safeguarding Australia's security for decades to come.

What We Offer

As a Finance Advisor, you will receive a competitive salary of around $83,000-$110,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience and qualifications.
