Indoor Plants Horticulturist

  • As an Indoor Plants Horticulturist, you will play a key role in our Glasshouse; assisting customers, maintaining plant health, and contributing to the overall success of our nursery.
About the Role:
  • Provide expert advice and assistance to customers regarding plant selection, care, and maintenance solutions. Address customer inquiries and offer personalized recommendations based on their gardening needs.
  • Monitor and maintain the health and appearance of plants, including watering, fertilizing, pruning, and pest control. Conduct regular inspections to identify and address any signs of disease or stress in plants.
  • Assist in inventory management, including receiving deliveries, stock placement, and offloading. Maintain precision in labeling and organization of stock. Communicate stock needs with the Greenlife Buyer and Nursery Manager as required.
  • Merchandise stock by organizing plants logically, creating seasonal displays, using color coordination and varied heights for visual appeal, providing clear signage, and grouping related items together.
  • Work closely with other horticulturists, nursery assistants, receivers, and management to collectively fulfill all nursery duties as required.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Customer Assistance: Provide expert advice and assistance to customers.
  • Plant Maintenance: Monitor and maintain plant health.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in inventory management.
  • Maintenance: Merchandise stock and ensure accurate inventory levels.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively with other team members.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary horticultural education (e.g., Certificate III in Parks & Gardens, Certificate III in Horticulture) is required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of indoor plants experience in a retail nursery is preferred, but indoor plants experience in other environments will be considered.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to interact with customers and team members effectively.
  • Able to commit to a flexible work schedule, including weekends.
  • Proven ability to follow processes and procedures in an organized and efficient way.
