Job Summary

The Workplace Health and Safety Specialist will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and monitoring Health and Safety initiatives across Guzman y Gomez. This role is crucial in ensuring the health and safety of all our employees, contractors, and guests while supporting our business objectives and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Risk Management: Support the development of a proactive Health and Safety culture, assist in hazard identification, assessment, and control, and lead health and safety risk management projects.
  • WHS Culture: Drive a strong WHS culture within GYG, collaborating closely with operational teams to enhance safety awareness and promote best practices.
  • WHS Policy & Procedures: Maintain and review WHS policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with business operations and fostering a safe working environment.
  • Consultancy and Expert Advice: Provide guidance to departments on corrective actions, offer expert advice on HS issues, and collaborate with leadership on system improvements.
  • Incident Reporting & Issue Management: Ensure timely incident reporting, lead investigations for significant incidents, and analyse data to implement effective responses and corrective actions.
  • Quality Systems/Auditing and Compliance: Coordinate annual audits, verify compliance with SafeGYG standards, and support departments in addressing audit findings.
  • Consultation: Facilitate effective consultation processes, disseminate H&S information, and maintain documentation accessible to stakeholders.
  • Compliance: Uphold GYG compliance standards through completion of mandatory training and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a WHS management
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, standards and best practice
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cultural change and implement effective safety initiatives
  • Minimum Cert IV in Work Health and Safety
