Key Position in Commercial General Contractor

The Preconstruction Manager plays a critical role in the success of our client's business. This key position requires someone with experience in commercial construction precon/estimating.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed time, cost and labor estimates for construction projects by analyzing project drawings, specifications and RFPs.
  • Solicit projects and obtain quotes from subcontractors and vendors.
  • Analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes to confirm scope.
  • Develop preliminary construction schedules for estimating and preconstruction purposes.
  • Prepare conceptual estimates and budgets for projects.
  • Develop relationships with subcontractors for the solicitation of bids.
  • Participate in the interview process as required.
  • Communicate effectively with subcontractors, owners, architects, engineers, and project teams.
  • Participate in and accurately interpret existing conditions during site meetings and walkthroughs.
  • Prepare, coordinate, review, and distribute construction estimates.
  • Update unit, labor, material, and equipment rates in cost databases to keep them current.
  • Prepare reports and analysis pertinent to construction estimating as requested.
  • Maintain an accurate estimating schedule for all priced projects.
  • Assist accounting and project management to ensure proper turnover of estimates.
  • Initiate and hold project turnover meetings with project management post award.
  • Familiar with all aspects of contract administration and capable of assuming these duties as directed.

Requirements:

  • Previous commercial construction precon/estimating experience is essential.
  • Knowledge of the Charlotte, NC area construction market is required.
