Perth, Western Australia beBeeEnvironmental Full time $96,811 - $109,527
Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Opportunity

The role offers a unique chance to work with valuable environmental DNA (eDNA) data and contribute to its use for observing and protecting marine ecosystems. The team is seeking an Early Career Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join their efforts, exploring methods of enrichment, quantification, and modeling/software for eDNA.

As a successful candidate, you will have the opportunity to lead analysis and publication of research outcomes in high-quality publications, conducting large-scale re-analysis of existing and emerging eDNA metabarcoding datasets obtained in Australian coastal waters.

This position requires a motivated and creative researcher with experience in analyzing large, complex ecological or biodiversity datasets. Strong proficiency in statistical modeling, including experience with species distribution models, community ecology metrics, or similar frameworks, would be advantageous.

A doctorate in a relevant discipline area, such as ecology, computational biology or bioinformatics, is required. No more than 3 years of postdoctoral research experience is expected.

About the Role:

  • Conduct large-scale analysis of pre-existing and new eDNA metabarcoding datasets.
  • Co-develop a new computational tool and/or indices for detecting early signals of marine ecosystem change.
  • Lead the analysis and publication of research outcomes in high-quality publications.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the team to analyze and publish research findings.
  • Develop and apply statistical models to analyze large eDNA datasets.
  • Contribute to the development of new computational tools and indices for marine ecosystem monitoring.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has a strong background in ecology, computational biology or bioinformatics.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with programming languages such as R or Python.

Candidates Should Also Possess:
