Employee Relations Specialist Job Description

This role is focused on delivering expert advice and support on a wide range of employee relations matters. This includes providing guidance on workplace practices, interpreting employment legislation, and drafting high-quality documents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic advice and support on employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Support the development and implementation of fair and consistent workplace practices, including grievance management, case investigation, and disciplinary processes.
  • Support enterprise bargaining negotiations, research analysis, and key document drafting.
  • Evaluate existing terms and conditions of employment, identifying opportunities for improvement and simplification.
  • Monitor and address compliance gaps, risks, or issues related to industrial instruments.
  • Draft legally sound documents, including employee correspondence, briefing notes, and reports.
  • Coach and build the ER capability of people leaders, promoting proactive, fair, and consistent people management practices.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders, including senior leaders, union representatives, and external advisors.

About You:

  • To succeed in this role, you will bring:
  • Demonstrated experience in an employee or industrial relations role within a complex and dynamic organisational environment.
  • A sound working knowledge of Australian employment law, including Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements.
  • Strong written communication skills and experience drafting legally sound documents.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build effective relationships.
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters with sound judgement, professionalism, and discretion.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational, time management, and project coordination skills.
  • A tertiary qualification in law, industrial relations, or a related discipline.
