Job Opportunity: Lecturer in Philosophy

We are seeking a qualified Lecturer in Philosophy to join our department for a four year fixed-term position. The successful applicant will contribute to the teaching of our curriculum, including courses in philosophy of science, mind, and metaphysics.

About the Role:

The appointee will be responsible for teaching first-year philosophy units, delivering third-year metaphysics courses, and supervising postgraduate students. They will also have the opportunity to develop new teaching material and apply for research grants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach and coordinate philosophy courses, including those in philosophy of science and metaphysics.
  • Supervise and mentor postgraduate students in their research projects.
  • Develop and implement new teaching materials and assessments.
  • Contribute to the development of the department's research strategy and goals.
Requirements:
  1. A PhD in Philosophy by the time of appointment.
  2. An established research track record of high quality peer-reviewed publications.
  3. Demonstrated expertise in undergraduate teaching and assessment.
  4. Potential to apply for research grants from national and international research bodies.
  5. Capacity to work collaboratively within a team environment.
