Family Support Specialist

This role is focused on providing comprehensive support to families who are caring for children outside of their immediate family.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will conduct thorough assessments of kinship carer needs, develop personalized support plans, and provide ongoing case management and crisis intervention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of kinship carer needs and develop tailored support plans.
  • Provide regular case management and crisis intervention to ensure the well-being of children and carers.
  • Facilitate effective communication among family members and external stakeholders.
  • Link kinship carers with essential community resources and support services.
  • Collaborate with relevant professionals, such as courts, schools, and healthcare providers.
  • Maintain accurate records and adhere to compliance standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience working with vulnerable children, families, and communities.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and cultural sensitivity.
  • Current Working with Children Check and driver's license.
