Opportunity for Career Advancement in Mental Health Nursing

This 12-month structured program is designed to support experienced Registered Nurses transition into the profession of Mental Health Nursing.

The program incorporates clinical experience, education and support with post-graduate qualifications to assist Registered Nurses develop core skills and competency as a Mental Health Nurse.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply recognised nursing competencies and psychiatric nursing standards of practice
  • Use an evidence-based practice and recovery orientated approach to nursing
  • Develop skills to undertake comprehensive nursing assessments of patients, plans, implements and evaluates initial and ongoing risk assessment and care of consumers
  • Enrol in and complete academic requirements in obtaining a Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing
  • Meet all program, clinical and academic requirements and expectations as outlined as part of the Mental Health Transition to Practice Program

About You:

  • You must be a current practicing certificate in nursing issued by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation (AHPRA)
  • You should have an understanding of health assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing interventions
  • You are committed to mental health consumer recovery
  • You possess effective written and verbal communication skills
  • You can demonstrate ability to practice collaboratively and effectively within a team, displaying high professional conduct and reliability
  • You are dedicated to evidence-based practice with High motivation and willingness to learn, including obtaining post graduate tertiary education in Mental Health Nursing
  • You have awareness of organisational purpose
