Solar Energy Operations Coordinator Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Solar Energy Operations Coordinator to join our team at the Goorambat East Solar Farm near Benalla, Victoria. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities of the solar farm, ensuring its safe and efficient operation.

About the Role:

  • Coordinate daily site activities and liaise with maintenance and technical teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Oversee non-electrical maintenance, including vegetation management and inspections, to maintain the solar farm's performance and safety.
  • Monitor asset performance and escalate any issues promptly to prevent downtime and optimize energy production.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Maintenance
  • Develop and implement effective site coordination processes to minimize disruptions and optimize resource utilization.
  • Collaborate with contractors and internal teams to ensure compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and operational standards.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement, contributing to continuous process enhancements.
Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure all site activities adhere to regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and organizational policies.
  • Support emergency response planning, incident reporting, and permit-to-work systems to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Act as a liaison with external agencies, such as WorkSafe, EPA, and CFA, to facilitate smooth interactions and resolve any issues efficiently.
Performance & Reporting
  • Track operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and contribute to initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and reducing costs.
  • Provide regular updates on site performance, identifying opportunities for optimization and suggesting corrective actions when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of site documentation, contractor logs, and maintenance reports to ensure transparency and accountability.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Foster positive relationships with local communities, promoting sustainability initiatives and engaging in community outreach programs.
  • Liaise with suppliers, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and cooperation.
Innovation & Improvement
  • Identify areas for operational enhancement and propose innovative solutions to improve site efficiency and productivity.
  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops focused on safety, efficiency, and lean practices to promote a culture of continuous learning.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or equivalent qualification in engineering, technical, or project coordination disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, solar PV technologies, and asset management principles.
  • Proven experience in site coordination, contractor management, and compliance monitoring.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, energy monitoring platforms, and lean practices.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a proactive approach to leadership.
